Jacks jacking & replacement jack!
Hi all, just had my first jacking of the D4 and very disappointed with the OEM jack.... Slipped several times on the thread leaving me to get the flat tyre off & space saver on with the slickest motion since F1 introduced KY Jelly to pit changes!
Anyways.... I'm gonna dump this unit & ideally replace with any thing else, any suggestions? Who's using what....

Thanks for that... Does anyone know how high the d4 has to be lifted (on hard standing) to get the wheel off? I'm about to scrap my old Sprinter and might aswell have the jack outta that! Wanna make sure I can get the bloody thing off the ground though! Haha

I don't know about the actual height, but that's a sprinter jack under my D3 with the wheel clear of the ground and the top section of the jack only halfway out -

Great, thanks for that, may go for a 4t telescopic jack and adapt the saddle from the old scissor thing... As an aside, does anyone have experience of using the old Hi-lift jacks on D4's? Not sure if there'd be an adaptor available for them? Having the 'commercial' I may be giving the original item a hard time by not taking into consideration all the tools etc I carry about.....

The Sprinter jack is rated at something like 2.6t so it's more than adequate to get one corner up.
The original LR scissor jack is a disgrace IMHO, just not fit for purpose, there are plenty of other threads on here about them.
I can't see any way of getting a farm jack under a D3 or 4, all the strong chunky bits are too far recessed behind lumps of soft floppy plastic to be much use, I would have thought it would take an extraordinary adaptor to make it work and maybe then end up too unstable, I'd be happy to be corrected though, I've still got one sitting in my garage from the Defender days.Clive

They do an attachment that lifts the vehicle via it's wheel, obviously you would need to prop the vehicle if you wanted to swap said wheel

Shame, cause it seems you'll end up with more gear lugged about ie. axle stand et

@ armalites; Good idea, I guess that would work to get out of a deep rut or something similar
In the meantime though I think I'll stick to my Sprinter jack, not that I've actually used it in anger yet Clive
I can't see any way of getting a farm jack under a D3 or 4,
NAS tow adaptor at rear and winch tray at front. However, I just use a 2 ton trolley jack from Aldi/Lidl that stows behind second row seats. Only lift one corner so has ample ooomph.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill.
