Dip bulbs keep blowing - Help please!!!!!
Hi
I've a 2011 Disco 4 with a problem.
The dip headlamp bulbs (standard bulbs not xenon) keep blowing, this happens either side and very infrequently, sometimes they last 2 months, sometimes 6.
Doesn't seem to matter on whatever bulb either genuine or generic.
I appreciate this is a nightmare problem for the dealer to find but with it approaching the end of its warranty I'd really appreciate the thoughts from the great and the good of this fine forum.
Many thanks [/b]

Firstly make sure that it is logged as a fault with the dealer while it is still under warranty.
Secondly check connections and earths, finally upgrade to Xenons MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange
MY15 D4 HSE Kaikoura Stone
MY12 D4 HSE Nara Bronze Sold and gone
MY11 D4 HSE Stornaway Grey Sold and gone
D3 S spec Silver Sold and gone
Tow bar, full length roof bars, side steps, tow bar storage unit, surround camers.
D4 camera club
Not sure on the D4, but on my D3 the halogens kept blowing as the CCF was set to Xenons, leading to a power sure being sent at 'start up' when you put the lights on. Bulbs blowing every couple of months. Got the CCF updated so it was set for halogens and bulbs never blew again. I'm assuming there is a simulate setting for the D4??

I agree with CDS' diagnosis, but why would you have standard halogen headlights fitted on a 2012 HSE?
Is your profile correct? In your OP you state it is a 2011 D4 yet your profile states it is a 2012 HSE. Is it actually a GS or XS model?2021 BMW iX3 Premier Edition in Carbon Black ⚡️🔌

Good point.
We've actually got 2 Disco 4's.
I have a 2011 Commercial and the wife now has a 2013 HSE.
The HSE we swap every March so have just done the deal on a 2014 model.

Update
Discovery was in for a service and MOT a couple of weeks ago, just before the warranty ran out.
Whilst at the dealers they replaced all 4 main bulbs in headlamps
Well it managed 455 miles before a dip bulb blew early today.
