Stratstone Bury - looking after my D3
I've placed my D3 in the hands of site sponsors Stratstone in Bury to work their way through a number of faults it has collected.
The D3 has a transmission fault, some braking issues, road holding/handling challenges as well as some unwelcome clunks from the suspension. To help I've handed over a description of what the fault is along with how and when it occurs, and they're working their way down the list to get sorted.
Oh, and it appears the screen washers (front and rear) are well and truely dead, as they advised me this afternoon that they're having to take the front bumber off to sort it - more than just a fuse then. Can't even blame the latest heavy freeze as these died before Christmas on a mild day.
It'll have had its 30,000 Service as well, so I'm quite looking forward to its return.
They've had it since Monday, and I'm hoping to get it back tomorrow. I'll keep you all informed.

No, not worried.
I got the vehicle about 4 months ago and most of the faults were apparent then (after I'd paid my money). Stratstones had it in once already to sort the suspension/braking clunk as part of the after-sales service they offer, but it didn't get fully resovled. They were happy to have it back into their workshops but I've been far too busy with work to be without it for a few days (to give them a real chance to get to the bottom of things). Thing is now I've been able to hand the D3 over with specific faults for them to work through rather than niggling annoying and possibly subjective issues.
It would have obviously been nice to have had no issues when I'd purchased the vehicle, but i guess buying 'used' you have to expect that the previous owner sold it for a reason. As long as Stratstone overcome the points I've highlighted to them I'll be alright with things, and I'm confident that they'll put in the effort.
I'll let you know Coffeecup

Thats not many miles. Mine is on 32k now, and just starting to get a hint of rattle on the front. I suspect arb bushes will be shot by the next service.

Well, I said I'd give an update once I had my D3 back.
Stratstones appear to have worked their way down the list, and fixed the issues with the brakes, transmission failure (faulty brake light switch) suspension/steering clunks and even fitted a new pump for my Windscreen washers.
They have however, managed to give my D3 something extra. TOTAL SUSPENSION FAILURE
I can't imagine how the transfer driver managed to get the 7 miles from the dealers to my house (most of it motorway) without exeriencing the problem. I took it out tonight and driven about 1 mile, joined the motorway and got to the bottom of the slip road and SUSPENSION FAILURE MAX SPEED 30mph. Cursed. Pulled over onto hard shoulder. Stopped, restarted. Drive off, all OK, reach about 50mph and failure.
While it had a lot of niggles and issues before, at least it was drivable. Now, it isn't.
Anyone know what time Service opens at Stratstone Bury in the morning ??? Coffeecup

Spoken to Barry and explained the problem. My D3 is going to be picked up and taken back to the dealership, and arrangements are being made for a car to give me transport again.
Something I discovered, is that raising and lowering the vehicles suspension isn't quite right. It seems to lower OK (on command as well as a result of the Failure message), but raising to off road height results in the front lowering and the rear raising.
Don't know if this is a result of the recall work that was carried out - something about the suspension height sensors were being replaced as Land Rover had identified water ingress problems on some vehicles.
I'll keep you all updated.
