Kaymar Bar + Spare Tyre Carrier Vs Rear Parking Sensors |
|
Had a Kaymar bar and single right side tyre carrier fitted along with an ARB front bar.
Local place has disabled front parking sensors through Autologic, however when reverse is selected I get a constant beep.
AutoLogic shows some error on right rear Kaymar sensor with tyre carrier open and middle right when its closed.
We tried bending down the sensors slightly and that did not fix the beep.
Is there any way of getting the Kaymar bar sensors to work properly or should they just be disabled? 1999 Disco 1, 300TDi, Snorkel, ARB Dual Lockers, 9500 Come-Up Winch, Custom Bars & Sliders, Terrafirma +2in Shocks. Silverstone MT-117 33".

Have you got the deflector plate fitted? The plate stops the park sensor signal seeing the tyre pattern. 06 TDV6 SE with many LR and after-market extras. Used only on weekends and trips out west.

Is that the aluminium plate that was around under the tyre?
If so then I took it off as it was in the way for the larger mud tyre. It will need a few mods to make it fit under the 275/65 18 tyre. 1999 Disco 1, 300TDi, Snorkel, ARB Dual Lockers, 9500 Come-Up Winch, Custom Bars & Sliders, Terrafirma +2in Shocks. Silverstone MT-117 33".

That aluminium plate needs to be place to allow the sensors to operate correctly. I had the same problems when the was damaged. 06 TDV6 SE with many LR and after-market extras. Used only on weekends and trips out west.

Thank you. Yes I got the details from Kaymar. I will have to modify that plate for the larger tyre and see if that does the job. Alternatively make an aliminium plate to go above the sensors if I can't get this one fitted. 1999 Disco 1, 300TDi, Snorkel, ARB Dual Lockers, 9500 Come-Up Winch, Custom Bars & Sliders, Terrafirma +2in Shocks. I had a Kaymar rear bumper and wheel carrier fitted in 2008 when I needed to fit another fuel tank for outback travel. The rear sensors worked for the first couple of months then decided to pick up the spare wheel continually even though I had an aluminium plate fitted. Kaymar had a look at it but were unable to fix the problem!! I understand they no longer make the bumper with sensors. GOOD LUCK

This one just came from Aussie a month ago, complete with sensors.
The aluminium plate is now under the large mud tyre and I am getting mixed results, sometimes it works sometimes not so the ali plate just may need a bash with a bigger hammer. 1999 Disco 1, 300TDi, Snorkel, ARB Dual Lockers, 9500 Come-Up Winch, Custom Bars & Sliders, Terrafirma +2in Shocks. Also had a Kaymar bar and single right side tyre carrier fitted (no sensor mounts) - drilled my own sensor mounts but the RHS sensor are picking up the spare wheel (removed the spare and it all works 100%.
The AULRO site has a post that recommends using a bicycle patch glued over the sensor to totally block it out but that defeats the purpose of installing them in the first place.
Can make an aluminum plate but how much of the underside of the wheel should it cover. Any thoughts on the effect of painting the ally black so it matched the rest of my vehicle - no bling for me...
