Radiator internal blockage

I hear that after about 10 years the radiators on Disco 3 can block internally causing overheatingand engine damage. Anyone else heard of this issue?
Disco 3 and a Bushtracker that's heaven on earth!!!

I think thats and old thing from many years ago when people thought anti freeze additives lasted forever, so long as you change the coolant as its reqd I cant see any issues.
Often see trucks at work with well over 700k on original rad and I can tell you they never get new coolant unless something fails!

I suspect the real cause is the external fins of the radiator clogging up with mud - which seals them really well!

A while ago, I took the winch off to sort out an issue, so took the grill out and cleaned out the radiator while I was there. It took about 20-30 mins of hosing to get all the caked-on mud out! Smile

Cheers,
Rob

P.S. My mechanic mentioned that at about 200,000km+ he's seen overheating around cylinder 6 - he thinks it was from the external fins being clogged from mud.
