From the Brochures
Thank you - found them!
So with two rows raised, measured at floor level:
D5 is : 1411 wide x 1119 deep x 939 high and 1137 litres volume
D4 is : 1235 wide x ???? deep x 1027 high and 1260 litres volume
(don't know why D4 length isn't listed)
Seriously, when people see the shape of the interior you'll see how much smaller it feels in the back - especially if you're carrying anything in boxes.2005 D3 HSE 2011 D4 Landmark 2016 D4 HSE Lux

Bit off topic here, but for anyone wanting a brochure without the attendant hassle from the dealers, then just enter any old rubbish into the information boxes.
Apart from the mobile number having to seem to be a valid format, even if not a valid number (or at least not my number ) then the website isn't smart enough to realise it's rubbish. Then just enter any valid postcode that's not your own, pick a dealer from the dropdown and it will then allow you to select whatever brochure you want for download.

Its a shame the 2nd row doesn't flip up and whilst the backs of the seats are flat they certainly do not fold down level which is not good at all. it will take some pushing of hay bales up that mountain
Everyday the looks less and less like an option for me.
internal dimensions are in the brochure its the opposite of a tardis bigger on the outside but smaller on the inside:

To be fair every car manufacturer seems to have went down the same road, the V90 has less loadspace than the V70 and Mercedes Benz E class is smaller than the out going model, I think. It just seems a bit of wasted space.
It's not a deal breaker for me, it'll still go on the rubbish tip runs and dog carrying duties, though the lack of three proper seats in the second row is a bit of a pain.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Load space full protection linear is basically a tent for all your trips to the tip or whatever you need to carry. My dog would love it

Buckster and I had a good poke around the D5 at the Land Rover party today. This included lying under the tail to check out tow points...
"Underwhelmed" would be a good summary. As with FFRR and RRS the boot looks smaller than the "old" one. Both rear rows of seats are power fold but do leave a flat load area unlike the RR versions. Rear most seats are ok once you're in them but getting to them is tight. Front seats are comfortable (for a few minutes anyway). Infotainment system has nice graphics and seems quick but was limited in functionality with the engine off in "our" example. Ground clearance off road looked impressive (one of the camo ones was doing demo runs off road). It was wearing 20inch Duratrac. What we could see underneath suggested good protection underneath however in line with RRS the rear diff control box is at the bottom and acts, effectively, as an impact box below the diff! It's metal but I wonder how much grief it can take before it's damaged or ripped off.
Would I want one? Not on first impressions, no. I'd rather have a FFRR.
Oh, and the "activity platform"? Yuck. Felt flimsy although it did take us both sat on it just fine. Buckster isn't a heavy lump like me though so maybe we didn't test it enough! It's electrically operated and takes up some of the tiny space behind the third row of seats. There's also the storage location for the load cover. It's on the floor behind the third row. So with all of the seats up there is no residual boot worth discussing.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

But didn't Bear Grylls get 7 crash helmets and 7 unfurled parachutes behind that third row of seats?
