RADIATOR HEADER TANK SENSOR

Just for your information..............

I am getting a constant "COOLANT LEVEL LOW" warning even thought I can see all is ok. I have contacted my local dealer who have acknowledged that this is a knowm fault and that the header tank sensor is to blame. They are replacing the tank and sensor under warranty, so I am happy.

They also mentioned that the sensor will pick up if the water / anti-freeze mix is not correct!

I'd have thought all the early D3's with this would have had the replacement by now Confused At least your dealer acknowledged that it's a know issue without giving you some C&B story like some of them do

Mines been replaced once, and it's still losing small amounts of coolant, the classic sign that the float is absorbing it, and will eventually sink, giving the Low Coolant Msg again, I can't believe that they are replacing them with duff ones yet again, bl**dy cheapskates! Rolling Eyes

Don't be put off by your dealer to get this fixed. Get it changed as soon as you can otherwise you may actually run out of coolant and think the warning is a false one, then continue to drive with no coolant in the engine.
In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I've told them about it til I'm blue in the face Andrew, If it does the same as the blue pearl, I will be expecting them to replace the complete engine, 4ft body lift, the works,in fact. Whistle

You are probably right DG, Lancaster have barely managed to get anything right yet, I've given them 3 goes, they managed to do the 1st service (an oil and filter change) without too much trouble, but as for the rest, well I'm flabbergasted really, I honestly don't think I want to let them near it again, for fear of them making things even worse than they already are..... I could be heading over to GS TD sooner than I thought..... Laughing

Just to let you know, my D3 went in for this issue a couple of months ago. The replacement coolant bottle took 3 months to come in.

My dealer told me that LR had a design issue originally and they produced a new design to fix. With time this modified bottle also failed. I called just as they were redesigning the bottle for a third time, hence my 3 month wait while they where manufactured. This was fitted some time in March I think and I have had no errors since.

If you had your bottle replaced before Jan this year I think you may have problems again.
