Just be aware that if you buy a new Nav DVD, it will replace the current programming, and people have reported that the "back door" is now gone.

thanks - seen this one but it seems to suggest that you have to do it every time you start the car - not ideal. also i do not want to buy the new disc... just want to use the current disc and sat nav set up with out the lock up feature......
i used to own a xc90 with sat nav and you had the option of turning the feature off from the user settings menu... you would have thought it would be as easy as they are both PAG companies....

It confirms that your dealer needs to enable it using the relevant TSB. Depends on how friendly terms you are on with your dealer as to whether they will charge you for it or not... Bodsys Brake Bible
I discovered at the weekend that you can activate the hidden menu while on the move and consequently can input the code and hey presto. Made me happy again.Life is what you make it.
