Kutse Botswana

Easter - Were you there.
Having not been for at least 6 years it was a pleasant suprise to see the road improved.
Now only 3 hrs from Gabs as against 6 that many years ago.
Maybe cauze previous trips were in LR2A's & 110"s
Disappointing howerver that i could not get the D3 out of standard drive mode. The roads were just not bad enough.
As for my post earlier regarding SIDE PANEL PROTECTION - TOO LATE Sad Damage already done. I'm sure it will polish out though. Rolling Eyes

If you want the prime sites - (Permanent water holes) you have to book well in advance.
Some guy's are booking upto a year in advance.
I booked in Feb and only managed the top sites in CKGR.
Still good fun though.
I saw at least one other D3 in Khutse - Maybe not a member.
Discovered after the trip that both control arm bushes well gone but i don't think as a result of the trip to Khutse?

A sound of advice when traveling in Botswana, remove the front bottom plate that covers the recovery point. Most roads go in a wave or sine pattern. I lost mine because the car extended hight came down and the front of the car hit the sand and goodbye plastic covering.

Hi Alf
Its good advice to remove these covers front and rear as soon as you leave the tarmac. We had a D2 stuck in the water at Mamile (Nam) and took us an extra 5 minutes to get the cover off underwater so we could attach a strap to recover my friend. In the interim the water just kept flowing into his vehicle.
The D2 front recovery point cover is easy to remove compared to the D3 one.
