Need An Accurate Tyre Pressure Gauge
I have been using this Taiwanese digital tyre pressure gauge (unbranded) for years and in recent times have acquired a few more. The frustrating aspect is they all give me vastly different readings all the way up to 15psi. Is there any place in Sydney where I can have it calibrated or where can I get an accurate one. As for the ones in service stations, they are just as worse.'06 Disco 3 TDV6 SE Buckingham Blue
If you have a racetrack nearby, they almost always have a "tire guy" who sells tires during racing events. For motorcycle racers, an inaccurate pressure gauge is likely to bring death. Even if the guy is not at the track, they will know how to get a hold of him/her. They will have extremely accurate gauges that you can calibrate off of.
ARB are selling a tyre pressure guage that is a cut down version of their EZ Deflator for $29.
Here are the FEATURES:
• Same family as ARB E-Z deflator
• Protective rubber gauge guard
• Quality bronze Bourdon tube gauge design ensures accuracy is not affected by changes in temperature, humidity or altitude
• Fully geared, solid brass precision movement
• Tested & designed to stay accurate
• Easy to read dual pressure scales – PSI and Bar
• Flexible hose with dual chuck for all rim & valve types
• Gauge reset button
I'm sure these are calibrated from the manufacturer.

Thanks to all who replied - I will have some shopping to do this or the next weekend.
Kenso - to set the Staun deflators you would need a pressure gauge to set the pop-off pressure - yes?'06 Disco 3 TDV6 SE Buckingham Blue

I saw a good method of getting tyre pressures correct, while viewing a different forum. The method is to choose a pressure within the range you feel is necessary (be it deflated for sand or harder for blacktop). Set one tyre to this pressure (hot) and compare it on a couple of gauges to be sure.
You then lay two rods (wood, metal or plastic under the leading and trailing edges of the tyre (across the tread) and roll them in until they just touch the tyre. Measure the distance between the two rods. Next you place the rods the same distance apart, in turn, under the remaining tyres and adjust their pressures until the edges of the tyres just touch the rods.
The end result is that the footprint of all tyres will be exactly the same. The pressures may be a little different, but that isn't the aim of the exercise. This methods allows for the fact that the load weight on each tyre may be different depending on how the load is balanced in the vehicle, but the contact area on the road surface will be exactly the same for each tyre.
One of the contributors only uses distance to set his tyres up - he doesn't even care what the pressure is!D4: Expedition Rack, 104 Litre Long Range Tank, Raised Air Intake
