Cost to replace brake pads |
|
Just had the 24k (km) service done - was advised the pads would need replacement in around 7k. Checked the other posts, and 30k looks pretty good for a set of pads (someone quoted 12-18k miles).
However, the quote to replace them by the dealer was $800 - seems a bit on the high side.
Appreciate any feedback on anyone elses experience regarding cost and pad life.

flip, just had 15,000 mile service @ 16,000 miles (oops) and was advised pads 20% worn all round. So I'm doing alright.
$800 + about £400 at the Moment - and for pads that sounds chuffin expensive. "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

Baggy,
Mine just had the fronts done at 46,000 kms. Front Pads ($135), disc machining ($36) and labour ($102) around $273 + GST = $300 all up. So even if you need rears then doubling this cost would only be $600.

Thanks Chris.
I'm wondering the same as CW......why have the disks machined? was your work done by a dealer or 3-rd party?

Hi guys,
The machining was recommended by the dealer and yes it was by authorised dealer.

Lots of highway miles?
Machining discs is one of those necessary evils - you need it done to remove run-out, but it sure does limit the longevity of the discs!

I can't remember...I've got a head like a sieve, so I'll have to go back though my service invoices and check. There's a possibility they were replaced around the 45000 mark. But iF they have been replaced before, it was only the once. Have a nice day!

Hey Vic,
had my brake pads replaced after about 18mnths ... around the 34000km mark ...
Initially i was quoted over $800 by the LR dealer. After I told them that the price was ridiculous, they dropped it down to just over $600. I'm not sure if the discs were machined, have to look into my service records for that.
cheers,
