Just bought a 13MY D4HSE LUX.

For the past couple of years I've been driving a VW, as top management liked them. Having driven Land Rovers for over 20 years, I'm pleased to say that this was only a temporary glitch Wink

So I'd spotted this 1 year old D4 with 10,000 on the clock, and decided that the VW must go! Very pleasant dealer, and we came up with a deal we were both happy with, so I'd pick it up 4 days later in order for them to give it a good clean and polish and do the 'exhaustive' number of PDI checks.

On delivery day, went and admired how shiny the vehicle looked, gave the dealer the money and he handed me the keys. I'd noticed when I first saw the vehicle that it didn't have any rubber mats, or a manual, so you can imagine that when I opened the door and saw that they weren't there, I wasn't best pleased. The dealer apologised, swiped a manual from another D4 they had, and got the mats from Parts - result!

The first thing I did when I got in was try to adjust the driver's seat - nothing happened, so back inside we go! Dealer tries and fails, so the vehicle is taken to the workshop, and I'm fed with coffee for another hour.

Eventually that gets fixed - needed the connectors under the seat re-crimping apparently, so set off on the 90 minute drive home. All going well for the first hour, then the hard keys on the clock panel start not to work. Made it home, and by then even the analogue clock had stopped, and none of the centre panel buttons worked.

Straight on the phone to the dealer, who would send someone out that night to pick the car up. I was also getting the Low Battery warning by now, so that would be investigated too. The driver would have to cross the Humber Toll Bridge to get back, and by the time he got there, even the windows had packed up!

It took them 5 days to fix it! Apparently they had to replace the entire centre module, reset the BMS and do some more re-crimping!

It seems that buying Land Rover Assured vehicles, doesn't always mean that you get one that works when you pick it up, even though the dealer does to appear to have fixed it. On the other hand, I bought my Series III SWB 21years ago from a dodgy bloke I met in a pub, I've still got it, and it's never given me any trouble Very Happy

I'm shocked... Shocked
I've got the sister car to yours...now done 36000 absolutely faultless miles since new... Never ever put a foot wrong! Perfect in every way so try and keep the faith.... Would suggest it's probably battery related hence throwing up all the faults...
Brilliant car and would order another one tomorrow! Very Happy

Thanks Russell Smile My gut feeling is that the centre module was on the way out and they were just clutching at straws to get me off the forecourt! Since the module replacement, everything seems to be working fine, although I've taken some of the good advice on the Forum, and now have my CTEK plugged in and have one of Uncle Ray's finest protectors on it's way Thumbs Up
