Passenger footwell soaking |
|
Help!!
Passenger footwell is soaked.
No sunroofs.
Car was fine all day, parked up for an hour and returned to find footwell swimming. It is rain water and not ac or matrix.
I have just fitted short roof rails which involved removing the trim on the roof, cutting and refitting. Maybe linked but maybe not.
Suggestions appreciated as live in West of Scotland and it rains a lot!!
Thought these days were over when I sold D2!

Have you had it long? Only ask as without sunroof drains my next bess guess would be a badly bonded replacement screen. Even if the leak is central it will run along the headlining and down the inside of the pillar past the passenger footwell fuse panel. Check out the headlining and see what state it is in underneath.

Dry the footwell and put paper towels down, then get the hose pipe or watering can out, see if you can see it drip. My screen leaked, soaked the footwell but didn't soak the headlining

Hi
Pollen filter bone dry but removed A pillar trim and the rubber seal is perished on one fastener and the fastener at the bottom of the trim is completely missing. Blanked it off with insulating tape for tonight.
Dont suspect door seals as they are in good condition and recently lubricated D3 2005 TDV6 7 Seat Zambezi Silver

Thinking about it Steve when I pulled the gutter trim out to cut it to fit the roof bars it was pretty stuck at that top corner of the windscreen. That said, looking at it now and having checked the other side it does not form part of any bond/seal but as it is a LR not impossible that that might be it! D3 2005 TDV6 7 Seat Zambezi Silver

Have you upgraded the A pillar clips as LR recall/upgrade also
Air Con etc etc.,
Have a read and search water ingress .... quite a few reasons
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic98564.h...er+ingress D4 Front upgrade/cut back wings n things 'taking a long time but getting there'.
D4 rear upgrade - Narpys helped with that bit
Flack for problem solving and D4 Bluetooth Install/ D4 Heated Steering wheel with Flappy paddles n BBS enabling kit
Disco Mikeys work - Serviced, EGR blanking and 4x4 software upgrade, 3 flash indicators.

Taken a pillar off and it is missing a clip at the base and the second one is all perished. Fingers crossed that's the source but don't get the sudden failure of something that's never been off! D3 2005 TDV6 7 Seat Zambezi Silver

Appreciate your comments but the broken clip indicates they have been off before
When I did my A Pillars on my 1st D3 ......
The LR instructions ask your to remove the foam at the bottom of the A Pillar and also place a silicone patch over the top oval hole if I remember correctly ..... they had also redesigned the clips ....
I also remember reading another member on here ordering new A Pillars (£35 a side) and posting pics of the change of design also ....
So there was some form of issue as basically the whole things been updated over the years .. D4 Front upgrade/cut back wings n things 'taking a long time but getting there'.

Is the screw that you bolt the roof rails on with enough to make them water tight. Car was bone dry till I fitted them. Had to remove rubber bungs out the pre threaded holes for the screws that hold on the rails D3 2005 TDV6 7 Seat Zambezi Silver

No more rain and not used car but still soaking!
I assume it's just the amount of water the foam can hold seeping out. Dehum being deployed tonight, new a pillar shrouds arrive tomorrow! Checked the ac pipe and it is attached but need to check it is draining as it should. Still suspect roof rails as well though D3 2005 TDV6 7 Seat Zambezi Silver
