Avoid suspension failures.....
It is a common isue that mechanical reliability of pneumatic suspension in HARD CONDITIONS is a weak point of the D3. If the D3 is very loaded and you travel in the dessert there are several reported cases of “Suspension tired†and a several “broken compressorsâ€.and even one reported “melted pipesâ€â€¦.
This problem is not important in Europe and for “Regular use†….but, for these heavy conditions could be interesting to have an “after market pneumatic suspension KIT enhancementâ€â€¦I mean…imagine an Over dimensioned tough compressor, better dimensioned pneumatic bottles. Best materials in pipes…..
I know that you can have a second compressor with a by pass… but I am talking about enhacement of all components to make the suspension absolutely reliable….no more “tired suspensions†and broken compressors….
Other cars without pneumatic suspension can install double springs ….Would be interesting to have a extra load possibility and much more reliability…without loosing the commodity of this magnific suspension system.
Does anyone knows who could do that? .
What is your opinion?
Thanks.Nacho

I think the suspension failures are pretty few and far between to be honest.
Compressor problems in the past were due to dirt ingress / seal problems and have been corrected.
I agree. I've been putting my LR3 through the paces over the past year and I've only had one fault that cleared after a restart. That fault was after a full day of repeated fording. I crossed a river dozens of times, lost count after 25. I blew out a sidewall too, but that had nothing to do with the suspension.
That reminds me, I need to add more pics to my gallery.
