Peak Park Long Causeway (Stanage Edge) |
|
Hi
For those intrested in PNP Greenlaning.
Ray
Staying on the Right Track
Recreational Motor Vehicles in the Peak District National Park

Update – September 2014
Long Causeway
The National Park Authority has made an order to prohibit motorised vehicles
from Long Causeway near Stanage. It came into effect on 18 September 2014.
Details of the order and the reasons for it can be found at
www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/tros. It is now an offence for motorised vehicles to use
this route unless specifically exempted.
Information Day
Staffordshire Police working with Rangers and vehicle user groups have carried
out an information day in the Manifold area. The legal status of some of the
routes in this area has not yet been clarified and some people are straying onto
adjacent land. The emphasis during the day was to provide advice on known
rights and to promote the codes of conduct.
Vehicle Users Meeting
A further meeting was held with vehicle users in July. We focused on the
condition and suitability of a cluster of routes in the Minninglow area. This
included looking at the effect of meeting and the potential for passing other users
and considering the effects of use during wet ground conditions and on adjacent
features and habitats.

Shame but it's been coming for a while. Driven it many times in my Series 2A, but never seen a D3 or 4 do it. I'm sure one has, but would need to have been brave! RIP Stannage edge

I used to do lots of green laning in the PD. We even had some cracking good DISCO3 forum green laning weekends in the Peaks, with loads of people coming from all over the country to enjoy the area.
Sadly, my interest has waned since we started losing the lanes. Its all become very controversial, and I feel like I am driving on egg shells every time I put a wheel off the tarmac. I used the be a member of GLASS, and probably used your services as local rep, but I let my membership lapse as I thought it was inevitable that we would be out-voiced by all the associations and groups against us.
