I really don't get this, am i missing something ? I Received a renewal quote today for the land rover none of the details have changed from last year yet it's increased by £100, taking it to a grand total of £347 . I've taken a look online and I can get the same or similar cover for £190 . So I've decided not to renew with Halifax ,just called them and they were quite happy to just let my business stop . They asked why I was not renewing when I told them they were not competitive and the renewal was to expensive they just said ok and that was that. You're not afraid of the dark are you ?

More and more insurances won't try to beat the best price.
I actually got into the absurd position of phoning up my insurer, telling them they weren't the cheapest renewal quote, but if I appiled on their online quote site, like a new insurance, putting them as my last insurer, I saved quite a bit of money, their answer to that was do it by the web site then, which i promptly did.
Unfortunately, most of the time, you have to vote with your feet.

it's bizarre, but there are a couple of reasons why...
One, the first year is offered cheap as many people don't change on renewal
Two, they make money from selling you extras (sometimes)
Three, their exposure to risk, they effectively have risk pools with certain numbers of people allowed into each one each day. If the pool is full then they price to make you go away. They have to report no quotes to the regulator, that's why you see extreme prices sometimes on the comparison site Sill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders
