Rear mat fitting
I saved the rubber mats from my MY2011 to put into my new D4. However, the clips on the mats are in a new position so I have had to get a new set
Now, you would think that here would be nothing involved in laying down some rubber mats but it seems that the rear ones need to be screwed down. The "instructions" show the need for a screwdriver and some tape and also supply a couple of screw-in anchors. I don't know If am being incredibly thick but I am not sure what I am supposed to do Does anyone know what the tape is for? Is it supposed be double sided? Do you just force the anchors into the carpet?D4 HSE MY2015

My understanding of this (having just bought some new anchors but not fitted them yet), is that you do the following:
1 - apply some masking tape in approximately the correct location for the anchors;
2 - put the mats in place and mark the location of the holes on the tape with a pencil;
3 - remove the mats;
4 - screw the anchors into the carpet;
5 - take the anchors out again and remove the tape;
6 - put the anchors back in and replace the mats
7 - turn the top of the anchors to secure the mats in position, and
8 - sit back and enjoy your new mats.

To be honest, I only used them to fill the holes. The mats are so large and heavy that I can't imagine they're going to move far under normal conditions.

My MIL always seems to manage to rip the screw thing out when getting in/out of the car so have given up putting it back and all is well with no movement of the mat without the fixing.Andy
