Little Snowflake Symbol on Dashboard
Well I've now seen the little ice symbol on the dashboard - temps here on the Gold Coast fell to under 1deg. Coldest ever recorded temperature for the area apparently, definitely not beach weather.
That said the max temp is still about the same as it is in London at the moment and its bright sunshine here - feel sorry for those blokes over there.
I notice when I don't see the little snow flake come on at the moment when we get into the car each morning - typically b/w 1-4 degrees most mornings first thing at the moment - and yes - some bright sunny but frosty morning, but lots and lots and lots of rain as well - which we desperatly still need (though those flooded out won't agree...)
Now - here's a question for those from colder climes... when it's a negative degree temp, where does the "minus" sign go - does it replace the snowflake that seems to be in the spot where it would be?
I expect I'll find out next weekend as we're doing a snow drive up to Mt Skene out of Jamieson in Victoria's north east - a group of mainly Disco 2 owners - un cleared roads up to about 1500m, and this year, well over a metre of snow on the roads etc. Will be fun!
cheers,

In my younger days (many moons ago). I used to do snow drives in my Datsun 1600 fitted with a welded rear diff centre (i.e permanent locker) and rally tyres with one of my mates who had a restored Willy's Jeep (canvas top). We did a trek from Jamison with an atempt to get past Mt Skene and make it through to Licola. Back then there was no gate to stop you driving on the closed road but I wonder if that has changed since. We couldn't get past Mt Skene due to the snow depth. We bumped into the Subaru 4WD club and drove past them for another few hundred metres - there were some odd looks especially when a real 2WD drove beyond where they got to following some wheel tracks. A trail bike then came through and continued on but about 1 hr later came back.
These were the good 'ole days.
Have fun Simon - post pics
