I'm looking to change my car, and wondering what sort of deals are available at the moment - i.e. what sort of discounts can you get (if at all). Looking for a HSE.
Thanks

In my experience, and in general discounts:-
Fall as winter approaches & rise in the Spring.
Are better at the end of the quarter & certainly for any unsold cars in stock.

I just got 20% off mine but this was the Land Rover privilege scheme as my Nephew works for them.

Hi, what is the work scheme out of interest?
Happy sailor, does your nephew want to do a deal?

My nephew or immediate family can have 3 cars per year between them all, discount varies but disco's are 20% at the moment. You can order fords, jags, land rovers and the evoque.
No deals though as you have to prove you are family, the car has to be registered to that persons home address and you are not allowed to sell them in the first year.

I'm being offered a 5% discount on new HSE, which doesn't seem great, so looking at 2nd hand now... TDV6 HSE Lux (2014MY)

That's a pretty normal discount in my experience.

seems to be about 37 - 44k for a HSE MY13 and high 40's for a MY14..... not a huge choice (at least if you start getting picky!) TDV6 HSE Lux (2014MY)

I guess the point is that if these cars depreciate at, say, £4k pa once over three years old (ie when you would sell it) and then you allow for extended warranty costs, tyres, servicing, brakes etc then a one year old one priced at £47-48k is the same price as a discounted new one at £52/53k if you keep each for three years.
Just a thought as I went through the same maths at the end of last year and ordered a new one. 2014MY Discovery

It's a thought. I bought my one new in Dec 2005 and I think it averages about £3500 per year depreciation, so not dissimilar to a new one now.
I will definitely shorten the change cycle to a few years, as this should avoid some of the big ticket services and repairs that I have had (only wear and tear stuff).
Just need to look under the mattresses etc for the spare 10k needed! I also do wonder what the values will do when they finally bring the next model out. My suspicion is that the new one will be a lot more money and a more style orientated product than the very functional one we have at the moment.

Join the BASC and get 8% through a particular vehicle supplier, my local Land Rover dealer matched it. I ended up with 12 % in the end as they upgraded the models (GS to an SE) after I'd ordered. Velar MY18 D180 S Narvik

I ended up going to Leaseplan Go on a personal lease for two years and 30 k miles, according to my maths the deal would save me between 4k-5k over the period and after two years I can decide to get another or try something else - plus no hassle with servicing, tyres etc...
Cheers Keith
