After some help..20th June 2015 |
|
Hi all,
I know its a long way off but I am after a few helpers!
On the 20th June is our towns annual fun family day, lots of rides, a parade, fireworks ETC
For the parade we have to arrange road closures our self, the police refuse to help! I am after a few people that could help with this. I believe we have a few SE4X4 response guys coming down but need a few more
I am asking this early because we have always left it to late and everyone already got plans. So this years we are getting it sorted early
Thanks

One lot of people that are very good at marshalling such events in my neck of the woods are the M.A.G. folk. (Motorcycle Action Group). They come along, resplendent in day-glow bibs and regulate traffic and generally help out.
They are a national organisation that lobbies for motorcycle related issues and have branches throughout the UK. They see these type of events as a chance to interact with the local community and raise their profile. Might be worth contacting them if there's a group near you.

If the above suggestion doesn't get a response,I've seen the local Army/Sea Cadets organising road closures and manning the car parks at Christmas fairs round here....another potential "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

You'll just need to through your local council for road closure, speak to highways. Best to get the plans in sooner rather than later as they'll have to organise diversions etc.
They will probably have TM (traffic management) companies that you can use for this also.
Its the way i would do it while setting up for some filming where ever that may be.
The police don't have anything to do with road closures for events its all done via councils. The only time that they will do it if for an accident or similar where they deem necessary at the time.
Hope this helps!
