MOT, it's not great
Took the Disco in today for its first MOT and 3rd service, I bought the car used at the start of the year and it's caused me a few headaches so wasn't looking forward to today.
Good news was it passed, but with more advisories than I care to mention.
Air con regassed, no record of it ever being done
Brake fluid needing changed
Pads warped
Rear brake pads getting near the limit
2 x front tyres getting near the limit
And play in the suspension bushes and arms (just for this to be done it's over £1k)
I'm writing this from what I was told over the phone, I'll write more details once I get it back.
Just aswell my DS comes in March.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Afaik, brake fluid change is part of the 3rd year service,so should have been done today as part of that
What's the mileage ?
My rear pads (originals) were replaced this week at 39k"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

The first bits are all service/maintenance items.
Arms are a bit of a disappointment for 3 years old but depends on the mileage?

I thought brake fluid was all part of the service also, I may have picked them up wrong, £80 charge whatever it is.
26.5k miles on the clock, but it was a travellers car before I got it, so has done a bit of towing.
Part of me is thinking pay and get the D4 upto scratch and just leave the DS until the following year, perhaps get a better spec D4.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

seems like an awful lot of money for what you've mentioned, maybe you should have a word with Disco_Mikey ( )
Edit But you won't be too worried if you're trading it in right enough 8)

Yeh, I've been looking at suspension parts and it does sound a lot but I'll get a better explanation/breakdown when I get it back.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Could be made up. I had suspension advisories on my D3 when everything felt ok to me. My indy welcomed the work but shortly after dropping it off he called me to say they had crawled over the car and could find nothing wrong. He did mutter something about not being able to buy food for his kids when he handed back the keys. The same suspension went through 2 further MoTs with no advisories.
People have had advisories for stuff not even fitted to their vehicle. I know a chap who's D3 failed its MoT due the entire rear sub-frame becoming detached and 'swinging in the breeze'.

It has been clunking over bumps the past few weeks, I've dealt with the same dealer for years so I trust them. The price I think is over the odds.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

I'd personally go with Biffysuns suggestion and get Mike to give it the once over.....As Robbie said, some places are notorious for flagging up "work" that's not needed.
Sadly, many reputable dealers have to deal with the suspicion that their less scrupulous counterparts have caused.
I had a Volvo V70 on which the brake discs went from an advisory to absolutely fine 20k later.
I assume you have your deposit down with the same dealer...? I also assume you didn't get any discount on the new DS,in which case it might give you a little leverage ?"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Have you not had the 3rd service done before it is out of warranty. If so why is LR not picking up the bill?Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

+1 for Mikey to have a once over
It won't do any harm for a balanced overview ....D4 Front upgrade/cut back wings n things 'taking a long time but getting there'.
D4 rear upgrade - Narpys helped with that bit
Flack for problem solving and D4 Bluetooth Install/ D4 Heated Steering wheel with Flappy paddles n BBS enabling kit
Disco Mikeys work - Serviced, EGR blanking and 4x4 software upgrade, 3 flash indicators.
B.A.S - FBHIC. Uncle Rays spare wheel protector. Beanie Silver Black badges.
