Tow Bar Recall Confusion....
So.. I got a letter telling me that I needed to take my car to the dealer to check my tow bar... Given I tow a 2 tonne caravan around the country many times a year I booked this in right away as I was due to go away the next week.
I was asked some questions related to the type of towing I do and I explained. I was told that the detachable tow bar is for Occassional Towing now and that with the towing I do I would need a Fixed Tow Bar. I challenged them as I didn't want a fixed one to be put on to save costs if a new detachable setup could be done instead. Anyway... My immediate concern was we were away on holiday with our cravan and I now didn't have anything safe to tow and give Land Rover their credit they arranged a Loan Disco Sport "Which was terrible" and off we went on our holidays. I was told they would try and get the repairs done for our return. The dealer called me yesterday to say the cars in the workshop and that they are awaiting parts and should be sorted for tomorrow. They called me today to say the cars all done and they would drop the car off...
To my surprise when the car turned up it had no tow bar fitted.. Scratching my head the driver called the dealer and they explained they did a new test and it passed?
1: How can they do a new test when the towbar was at my house?
2: Land Rover told me on the phone its not safe given the towing I do and its only for Occasional Towing and the print that went out with the cars is no longer valid?
3: Why did Land Rover lend me a car for a week to then tell me my cars all OK?
4: Why did the dealer not update me before dropping off the car?
Does anyone know if the TEST has changed as the dealer claims since my car was dropped to them last Tuesday?
I shall be calling Land Rover first thing as I'm not happy my car is safe?
Thanks

Got my recall letter 2 days before I sold my unused towbar, would have been interesting to see if it was worn. But can't so won't.

No further action required and nothing reported on the health check You're not afraid of the dark are you ?
Has a three year old D4....
His has had to have a fixed tow bar fitted....my nine year old one didn't ..... Strange
I wonder if it's a batch, materials, tolerance or supplier thing ?
My next door neighbour up isn't pleased as he has already injured his shins on the fixed thingBREXIT - done properly.

Received two letters yesterday, both with the correct registration number but with different VIN numbers.
I have owned the vehicle since new and have never had detachable tow bar or a fixed tow bar fitted.

My letter has just arrived too, so it's a toss up between Leeds, York or Wakefield.
