Hi all,
I’m sure this has been done to death on here but.......
I have a 2006 SE,it already has Bluetooth and the phone cradle fitted. I want to be able to reliably use Bluetooth to my latest iPhone and also stream music to the car at the same time. And maybe add DAB to future proof the car for a few years
I want to keep the car as original as possible so don’t really want extra buttons and screen attached to the dash.
I’ve seen on here about updating the Bluetooth module will that make it more reliable for use with today’s modern phones?
I’ve seen what can be described as mini computers to replace the nav screen and then it does all the above but I would still want the screen to display the LR graphics as normal
Any advice would be great 2005 D3 SE Auto, zermatt silver

Buy a D4 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

You can:
- update D3 BT module to D4 BT module; won’t get you audio streaming
- get a Bovee/Parrot/.. for streaming and connect it to aux
Or
- get a MObridge M2.Connect which does BT calls and audio streaming and resides on the MOST bus. Can be hidden away to keep that original look. You’re all digital until the amp output towards speakers, whether it matters to you is another question. I think there is a non-phone version (M2.Media?) which is D3 compatible
The latter works fine with a iPhone XR running 12.1.2, just upgraded and had the solution in my vehicle for roughly a year connected previously with iPhone 6 Plus and various iOS versions. I did a write up of it here on the D3 ICE forum with some screenshots, observations, pros and cons.
I don’t have any experience with DAB since it isn’t a thing here but mObridge did manufacture DAB modules for the MOST bus, too.

don't waste your money on an expensive solution to this.
Buy one of these for about £25.00

^^^
I wasted £25 buying the above.
Have to say the quality of calls was very poor, loads of interference, ended up throwing it out and buying a Parrot

So after a bit of thinking this is an option for me to keep it cheap(ish) but also keeping the car factory.
I will update the Bluetooth so the phone automatically connects
Music streaming will get a cheap android tablet (£50-70) and have that either magnetically mounted over the standard screen or just above it but it will be removable easily. This will be tethered to my phone for data and be connected to the aux socket with a hidden 3.5mm lead.
This will also allow other apps to be used like Waze/google maps and can keep us amused when stationary
I like the M0bridge stuff but just out of my reach at the moment 2005 D3 SE Auto, zermatt silver

no reason you cant use the BTC450 as the handsfree - thats what I do - I use it for streaming and handsfree - it connects automatically too. 2014 D4 HSE Facelift Corris Grey

Have any of you considered the British American Concepts Bluetooth device that replaces the rear aux panel?
It seems quite a good idea, as the speakerphone in the d3 works well just lacks a2dp for streaming.

drifting slightly off topic, but "Bleeding Knuckles" do you mean you are able to "tether" your tablet and use it as a satnav using Waze? As far as I was aware you cant transfer the GPS function of a phone onto another device?
I was thinking of doing something similar using an ipad. Is it possible? I thought not. I know the ipad will locate itself if near wifi networks, but not properly or quickly as a proper GPS signal does on a phone?

AFAIK iPad models that have cellular connectivity do have GPS, both GPS and A-GPS, in them.
