Burning rubber smell
After long journeys at motorway speeds (+), I’ve started to notice a hot rubber smell immediately outside my D4. Not exactly burning rubber… but almost. You can only smell it for a short time after stopping, and usually just as you step out of a door. It disperses so quickly (within minutes) it’s difficult to pin point where it comes from, but even SHMBO noticed when we got out at some services yesterday!
Tyres and wheels feel cool - no smoke - nothing appears unusually hot. Any idea’s where I should be looking? It’s starting to get funny stares in car parks!
Thank you.

Thanks, that would be a relief, not noticed it until about a month ago though. Didn't realise the DPF smells rubbery.

I wouldn't describe the DPF as a rubbery smell.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

I had an acrid, burning smell a couple of weeks back...stuck caliper I reckon,as one disc was hotter than the other at the front....heat didn't transfer to the wheels"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

I would also check the tires. Bad wheel alignment causes uneven wear on the tires and that gives a rubbery smell which disappears quickly.

I'll try again and check disks and tyres. The wheels are definitely saying cool to touch.
Thanks for the suggestions
