MP3 format on S model
Does anyone know if the D3 S model's CD player can accomodate MP3 format Cd's. My son uploaded music in this format but player shows DISC ERROR when inserted.

Dunno if it's relevant but in SA the S and SE have different ICE packages - Silly question Deon but did you test the disk elsewhere first

Good example of how specs differ world wide - in the UK the S/XS/SE/HSE can take MP3's whereas the Base/GS/Pursuit can'tSteve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Anything with the hi-line or premium logic7 audio system will play MP3s - that's the one with the keypad to the left of the screen and the 6 cd changer built in.
The base radio will not play MP3s.IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver

What level of control / selection / display is offered for folders on an MP3 disc ??
Can you even have folders or do you have to load up all your MP3’s into the root directory in order to play the disc ??

Thanks for that heine.
I'd like to have folders, just to keep things organised.
Might do up an experimental disck this evening to test things out with.

you can have folders but it will just list them as numbers and you use the arrow icons on the keypad below the numbers to change folders, usefull for a his and hers disc on a trip.

Ah I see !
I was hoping (in vain) that maybe just maybe the folder names would display, which would allow for a more organised Artist / Album arrangement.
Maybe I'll just stick to my iPod.
Still though might be nice to have some MP3's loaded up in the changer.

Yes, tthe audio quality is better from MP3 CDs than an ipod in the ACM kit. IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver

I take then that the ACM still isn’t offering the proper volume or sound quality that it should
I’m thinking that for an iPod the Dension FM Link is possible the best for quality, as you’re going in as a radio station, so the volume offset should be the same. Although while it’s not an FM transmitter like iTrip, I wonder would it still suffer from interference on the frequency ??
We recently had a car out from Hertz in Florida with Satellite Radio fitted & it seemed to be hooked up like the FM link, as you selected a radio preset to listen to the unit.
We had no interference at all at any time during our drive & the U.S. is saturated with radio stations, unlike the few we have here in Ireland.
All of which got me thinking about the Dension unit.
However on the other hand, if only we could get satellite radio over here like they have in the States………..it was just brilliant listening to all that music, filtered by genre, uninterrupted by ads.
