They are a pain....
My brake lights went and my dealer offered to change them FOC for me...
Taking the guards off and changing the bulbs took about 5 mins....
Replacing the guards took about an hour....

Overall front and back took me about an hour or so. Fronts were a doddle, with the rears taking a bit longer, mainly for a couple of coffee breaks.
I don't have an issue with removing the rears and replacing lamps. I've done this a few times and only takes about 10 minutes all in. I found the best way is the old 'loose fit' technique. Leave every bolt/ screw loose until they are all fitted them true it up and secure them tight.

Jeeeeez - even I only took just over an hour did you use masking tape (as suggested in the instructions) to line up the rear guards? made it a doddle (apart from drilling the body work behind the rear lamps )Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

'most important thing is to make sure the metal brackets are flush with the lights, otherwise they'll rub on the tailgate' is what the man at Lancaster told me, oh and to use half a roll of masking tape as per SN's post and theeeeennn......???
remind me next time I start a job that looks like a piece of ...... that the forum could offer words of wisdom
I realised halfway thru that using sellotape (no masking tape to hand), duck-tape, and then not having any silicon sealant (after drilling the holes) that the project was doomed to failure
Anyway, Sod it .... they are on now and only one of you guys would be able to tell what a half arsed job has been done on the project!D3 05 SE (old one)
