rear tailgate and land rover button |
|
well, my rear tailgate decided to not unlock over a week ago - the truck goes into service next week to get fixed.
when it stopped working, i tried the emergency unlock but that didn't work. you can hear the mechanism try to unlock, but the tailgate stays shut.
now the interesting thing is that my land rover button always use to control my headlights. then i noticed my landrover button wasn't controlling the lights anymore. so i thought best to reprogram it.
while i was in the car this morning reprogramming it, i pressed the LR button on the keyfob and it was actually unlocking the rear tailgate .... i checked the manual, and you can set it to the headlights, suspension or panic. now how did the LR button start controlling the tailgate ?
am i missing something or is it a hidden feature .... 2009 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 HSE
1985 LR 110 County 3.5 V8
(what options?!)

You can program this by pressing the tailgate release while holding the LR button down. Only releases it halfway though, not completely.
If your tailgate release only makes a noise but does not work... its likely the micro switch. You will need a new unit. Happened to me once.

You need to be pulling the tailgate while using the release button, whether it's the normal switch, the dash buttons or the keyfob button. It will not open unless you pull it while pressing the button. IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver
SA - 07 VW Golf TDI - White - Sold!

I have mine programmed to open the tailgate, very handy when the car is locked, just make sure you open it right the first time otherwise the alarm can go off and make you jump followed by some cursing
