Warranty Query
Some advice/thoughts please.
My D4 XS was 3 years old on 29th March. During service and MoT on 25th March it was reported to me that there was "some oil around the engine" which it was recommended should be monitored.
With the warranty due to expire I arranged to return the vehicle 2 days later for the sump guard to be removed for closer inspection (still not quite sure why they didn't do that while they had it up on ramp during service??). With the guard removed there was extensive oil contamination to an extent where a source was impossible to identify.
Subsequently contamination was cleaned off and despite running engine no leak could be found.
Fast forward a month and minor oil contamination found which has now been identified as being due to sump gasket fault.
I had spoken with Land Rover when the problem was originally identified and again this week and was told that a warranty claim could be made.
My query is this:-
If LR meet full cost of claim, c£1000, then there is no warranty offered on repair as the original warranty has expired. If I contribute 10% then I would be given a 2 year warranty on repair. Does this seem right?
NB: All servicing and investigations have been carried out at LR Service Centres. I have not had a replacement vehicle whilst the vehicle has been undergoing investigations and now repair.

Firstly, I would have thought that any work done by them should have a warranty on it. Basically they're saying if you don't pay 10%, then they'll do the work, it could fail in a week and you have no come back!
Secondly, are you not in any case purchasing an extended warranty once the current one expires? If so, then any specific warranty on that particular repair would be pointless as it would be covered on the vehicle's extended warranty.
