Hi Guys
I'm joining your forum to hopefully learn about caring for my new Landy as best possible. No, I haven't got her yet. If all goes well I take delivery tomorrow. Otherwise it will be a long wait over the weekend.
I'm sure we'll talk more soon.
Cheers

Welcome !
What model are you getting ? I have been driving mine (TDV6 6 new specs) now for 3 weeks and thoroughly enjoying it - have to get up early to get my hands on the keys otherwise my wife takes it and leaves me with Defender.
If you are close to Midrand try and join us for social chat at Baron - sessions will probably resume once Baben returns from his trip with Kingsley Hollgate - watch this space .

I am in the same boat! My Disco arrives next week and I can't wait. I have opted for the V8 SE, and I don't know whether this was possibly a mistake. My wife has a Toyota Prado 4l V6 and although its fairly thirsty, the 180l tank makes up for the consumption! I am a bit worried about the range on the V8 with only an 85l tank.
Does any one else have a solution other that carrying jerry cans on a long trip? The dealership told me there was no option of an additional long range tank.
May have to pay the price for the extra vooma!!

Andrew, There is a lomg range tank available in SA better looking set up than the Oz one I think.

Aaagh
I didn't get my new car on Friday. In some respects it was a horribly long weekend. I say in some respects, because we had a fantastic weekend in the Graskop area. What a beautiful part of the country that is. I thought only the Cape had such splendour.
Well, pack to the important bit. For those who asked, I'm getting a V8 HSE. 2006 Demo - 9k. The delay was because I had Landy fit a DVD and then they still needed to service and do the 128 point check. Anyone know what they are up to with these checks?
I'll let you know more about the car tomorrow night.
Cheers

She's here!
Yes, yes, yes. At last I am now the proud owner of my first Land Rover.
2006 Discovery III V8 HSE White / Tundra
First Impressions:
Drive: 9/10 Once the gearbox has learned my style (or I its) then surely it should be a 10. Pulls lekker!
Ride: 9/10 Ride quality is great but I guess the shape is the cause of quite some wind noise above 120km/h
Interior: 10/10 Everything I need is there and more. Practical use of finishings except door handles.
Exterior: I love the new age box shape. And it looks great in white (probably the only car that does. Err... and a GT3)
Build Quality: 8/10. The interior door handles really are plasticky. They felt worse on a 40k 2005 model I test drove.
What works:
Everything I've tried but my brain is 'dik gelees'. I'm wondering about that front PDC though. I parked against a wall and I didn't hear a beep. Is there an onscreen display perhaps??
Wish list:
Nothing, except maybe fuel consumption. A screen showing 4.5km/l is scary but I vouched to never complain about it so that was the last time I mention it.
Oh, and better door handles. (I'm really on about this aren't I??)
And maybe if the DVD could have been connected to the DSP sound system. Very decent fitment from Land Rover though, with remote control, kids game and two remote headphones.
And heated seats. For 10 days a year.
And maybe just maybe the fridge I saw in one of the cars I looked at isn;t such a bad idea after all.
That's about it.
Maybe if Land Rover managed 400kg less on the car to give the performance some giant killing attitude.
OK that's it.
Cheers
