Black/Black Discovery HSE - on the road today (PICS)
Collected my black/black Discovery HSE from Harwoods Croydon today.
10 miles on the clock at collection, and a great handover from Rob, with a bottle of bubbles to boot!
Then drove the Disco straight into W1 for an appointment, braving central London traffic - every scooter / motorbike / cyclist which came near me made me think that was going to be the first scratch!
But she drove beautifully, very nice indeed. No issues with the Stop/Start - seems a nice set-up.
Just spent an hour in the driveway "setting her up" with all the settings / menus / voicetags etc. It seems just about ever niggle I didn't like with the original infotainment & nav set-up has been corrected. The current system seems really very nice indeed.
Within an hour of collecting her, I decided to book for the local valet company to come and apply the Autoglym Lifeshine treatment. I wasn't going to pay circa £500 for it from the dealer, but for half the price, I've got someone coming to do it this weekend. Given I plan to keep this car for another 4-5 years again, and having a young toddler, I thought some added protection inside and keeping the paint on the outside a little bit nicer wouldn't be a bad investment. Sure I could have bought the stuff and applied it myself, but I'd much rather a professional spend 5 hours doing it PROPERLY, and save my poor back!
Only one problem I've picked up on so far - the armrest on the drivers door does not seem pieced together properly - something is not quite fitting quite right and it is loose / moves a little when you lean on it, so I'll drop her back to Harwoods on Wednesday and ask them to look at it. Probably a screw underneath which hasn't been fitted properly... It's certainly not as firm as on my old car, and not the same solidity as on the passenger door on this car.
Other than that, chufed to bits. Just waiting to fit my private plate in a couple of weeks when the paperwork has gone through the system.
And so far - not a puff of smoke from her! LONG MAY THAT LAST. Will get around to changing my avatar at the weekend... perhaps!

Well jell!! If I wasn't spending so much on mine I'd be able to afford a nice shiny new one.

How very nice of you to say. I never wanted to hate the brand, I just wanted an enjoyable ownership experience. I think the Discovery is a truly incredible car, if you don't get a duff one. I am hoping this will be second time lucky and am very excited with this new purchase!
Plus Harwoods recognised that, and have been very accommodating in putting together a deal to keep me loyal to them.747_JK

I looked at the big big Merc, but I honestly preferred the Disco for seating position, shape and my local dealer. Plus Harwoods gave me the deal I feel I deserved after the last 5 years of 'experiences'...
And the wheels are standard.747_JK
