17" all-terrain tyres
Hi
Looking to change factory fitted 17" tyes for all-terrains. Does anybody know what would be the best choice since the original tyre size is hard to come by. The only tyre that seems to be available in 235 70R17 is the Cooper Discoverer ATR and the Yokohama Geloander A/T-S, but the latter appear to be for a passenger car per their website. Could these be used?
Also what size could be fitted on the factory rims causing no rubbing in normal driving conditions.

If not already released, there will soon be AT2s in 245/70 R17, suitable for the D3 as well. Might be worth making a few enquiries to see if they're out yet. The 265s which are out now will fit, but you will get a tiny bit of rubbing, but quite a few people have them anyway.IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver

Does anyone know whether and if so to what extent, the Cooper STs 245 70R17 will affect the speedometer and mpg readings.
Minimal difference
Compared with the stock 235/70 R17 your speedo will read 1.8% too low so when it reads 60mph you're really doing 61.1.
Compared with the stock 255/60 R18 & 255/55 R19 your speedo will read 1.5% too low so when it reads 60mph you're really doing 60.9.The End

Just spoken to the General Grabber UK importers. They are not aware of a 245/70 R17 being on the drawing
board.
That said JWL you have a wide choise available in 2 sizes that will work on your D3.
Cooper ATR 245/70 R17 & 265/70 R17
Cooper ST 245/70 R17 & 265/70 R17
Cooper STT 245/70 R17 & 265/70 R17
General AT2 265/70 R17
BFG AT 265/70 R17 -
Obviously with the larger size 265/70 tyres your speedo readings will be slightly lower that your actually speed, also the mpg will be affected not only by size but by the increased resistance on the more aggressive pattern.JJ

I've had Cooper ATR LT265/70/17 for about 5,000km now, could not be happier. Bit more clearance, much better traction, no more noise than std, and over a 100km test loop, speedo is only 3% different to the GPS track log. I know from a mate that Cooper STT's are VERY noisy.

Seems as if I got my wires crossed...
The actual size that the AT2s come in (or will soon come in) that's more suitable for the D3 on 17s is 265/65. IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver
