New Corris Grey HSE next week. |
|
Thanks to a very generous contribution from both LR (long story) and my main dealer. I'm picking up a new HSE sometime later next week, once the Tracker has been transferred over.
Once again, I haven't specced the vehicle myself, it was a cancelled order, but I'm happy with it. Especially as I did miss the adaptive lights that I've not had since my D3. Heated steering wheel will be nice as well. Oh and the service plan will be handy.
Corris probably wouldn't have been my first choice, but that's only because I'd have liked a change from grey. It's a nice colour though and I still like it.
It's the standard HSE spec. with the following:
Windsor Leather - Ebony
Full size alloy spare wheel
Heated steering wheel
Privacy glass
Bi-xenon adaptive headlights
Grand black lacquer wood trim
Service Plan
Towing electrics (dealer fit)
I'm swapping over the RLD spare protector, rubber mats, mudflaps, towbar, sump guard and various LED bulbs from my current D4. The 20" alloys will be stored away and I'll fit 19" D3 HSE rims shod with Pirelli ATR's.
If the D5 doesn't suit me, I might well end up keeping this for as long as I did my D3 or longer. I still can't think of another vehicle that plays so many roles so well. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I think the older Alloys will spoil the new car look. The later Alloys are SO much nice....
Great spec car

Thanks everyone.
Gary, 20" rims are no good for me, I'd nacker them in a month. Plus, I really don't like the "crooked" spoke design of the current HSE 20" rims anyway. I've always liked the clean and simple design of the original D3 HSE 19" rims. Each to their own though
ronp, I agree Corris goes really well with the Black Pack. Maybe I'll go down that route in the future, but to be honest, as much as I love the D3/4, they're primarily work horses to me and within reason I'm not that bothered by looks anymore. I've yet to make a cosmetic only modification to any of my Disco's. Not that I'm in anyway against cosmetic mods, I've made them to virtually all the other cars I've ever owned inc. my wife's current car. I've just never had a strong enough desire when it comes to the Disco. Perhaps when my wheels need a refurb, I'll go for a shade of grey or black.
For me the pinnacle of Disco design has always been the original D3, both exterior and interior. The perfect combination of rugged, practical "Tonka Toy" looks, with just the right amount of comfort and luxury. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Oh God, I really hope they've not gone and made any further changes so it won't fit. I'm not aware of any though. I've got a day on Salisbury Plain next month, so I'll be fitting or at least attempting to fit the sump guard next weekend. Fingers crossed. Will report back. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Said goodbye to my MY14 D4 today. I can't say I was sorry, it had numerous minor niggles over the last year. Hence why LR have as near as dammit given me a new one. I should pick it up on Thursday, fingers crossed that it will be as trouble free as the 10 plate D4 I had previously owned. That was quiet as a mouse and totally trouble free. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
