Rear cam seal! (Does the body really need to come off? )

Hi all. After having my car in with land rover last year for a crossover pipe replacement, they decided to tell me after replacing the body that the rear cam seal needs replacing!!! So before I go back to them with some unkind words.... Does the whole body have to come off to replace the rear cam seal?

Any help would be amazing & really sorry if I've posted in the wrong place again Big Cry

Thanks Lewis

No, it doesn't.

But there are many special tools involved in said replacement...

Thanks for the reply. That sounds expensive then? I had a second opinion from another land rover garage and they too said the body would need to come off..

Would you not agree that the original garage could have rang me and offered to replace the seal whilst the body was off? Surely it would have been easy to get to?

Thanks again Lewis

yes they should have rung you.

If it's not leaking badly, you could leave it till the next time the body needs to come off ?

It's not leaking bad, but it's just really frustrating that they could have done something about it at the time...

I'm hoping the body doesn't need to come off for a while too Laughing

Thanks Lewis

I had mine leak for about 6 months then took the plunge and had the body off in oct/nov last year. Whilst it was off I did a few other jobs and a little preventative maintenance in painting the chassis Thumbs Up
