Suspension Error messages

I have been having quite a few problems with the suspension on my vehicle. Two of the errors I am being told are normal, I have seen the dealers courtesy V8 SE which does show the same messages, however I still dont think I should be getting these messages - at least not every time I go out in the car. The messages I am getting are as follows 'Vehicle raising slowly' and 'Vehicle will raise when unit cooled' the latter message is also accompanied by a warning chime.

Please could some of the other forum members tell me if they get the same - I am pretty sure that before my 1st compressor was replaced I did not get any messages like these.

Thanks for your help, Paul

The second one happened to me as my compressor went and the same for my father - it is not normal. The first is less clear as I have just posted it happened to me the other week, but not again. I'd tell the dealer he is talking rubbish. Just because their demo does it doesn't mean it's right.

I see "vehicle raising slowly" if I raise and lower the car a few times. It is because the system has a large air accumulator - a long cylinder on the left hand side underneath, which gets emptied when the car is raised. It has enough air capacity to raise and lower the car from access to off road hieght twice before the message comes up on the third raise.

The compressor has to run to re-pressurise this and if the car is raising at the time, it will raise slowly, hence the message. my compressor (under the left hand side, in front of the rear wheel) runs for about 2 minutes before pressure is restored to the accumulator.

If you have a weak or failed compressor, then this will take longer, and the overheat message could be triggered by the system sensing that it is taking too long to repressurize the tank.

I have never seen the overheat message on my car (Nov 04).

Well, I guess my Disco 3 is growing up: it had it's first suspension failure this week Crying or Very sad Oh, now isn't that sweet? Evil or Very Mad

I thougt I was lucky until now with only one electronic problem upon delivery, but now in the last 2 days this error has appeared 3 times. For me too, the honeymoon is over. The "rising slowly" and "cooling" messages are OK, like Gareth said.

So, I guess I can expect about a week without the car, and a new compressor and sensors installed (sometimes I think it's leaning sideways).

Can any of you experienced victims please confirm if this is the case?

The message is "suspension failure", and the instruction book/info icon flashing in the display (actually, I have it in Spanish: "Fallo en suspensión").

But I haven't noticed any real malfunction, it's just frightenning me.

I have the same regularly... But usually a clean "reboot" (Off/On, after a while and a chime, start the engine...) usually clears it...

I had a suspension re-calibration donne by a dealer bu still had one of those message since (But only one and this even though I did some light off-roading...)

Yes, Gurvan, restarting clears the message. How much time did you leave it at your dealer's to do the recalibration?

It took him a bit less than an hour...

My 1st Compressor failed at about 8.5K and 6 months - actually locked down in access mode - had to call out LR assistance
Fixed in about 3 days with new compressor
Still getting orange warning lights and 'suspension failure' message - but seems to self rectify v.quickly
Spoke with dealer yesterday (not one that fixed problem) and they susgested turning ignition on/off (don't start engine) 10 times to reset software Question
Sceptical - but - everthing crossed - seems to have worked - but early days yet
Also had Air Con fail - O ring failure on connection L/h side of engine bay - fixed in a day
Dealer is Williams in Mnachester - so far so good
Apologies to the silver HSE I followed near the A1 entry at Dishforth on Friday afternoon - not tailgating - just trying to make sure I had the address of this great site
Now Golf GTI PP, 7 speed DSG.
Ex D3 and D4
