Radio Installation

Anyone found a decent overhead console/dashpod to house UHF/HF radios. For some time I've had mine velcroed [sp]? to the centre console lid;which is not ideal. Question

Lex - what type (make/model) radio do you have?

Depending on size... I ended up going very simple without h/w mod's - a GME 3200 - sits b/w centre console and passenger seat... power comes from 4-way 12v off dash outlet, and aerial runs under floor mats to back door and to aerial mounted on wheel carrier. no extra holes...

cheers,

Simon

through the back door to the mount post? there is sufficient give in the rubber seals - it just goes though the bottom side onto the end of the swing arm for the carrier.

I'll take some more pics...

cheers,

Simon

I have a GME TX3400 with the remote head. I put the head below the ashtray and the body of the unit above the brake pedal cover thingy. I don't have the antennae on all the time so it is easy to unplug the power so I do not inadvertantly use it and damage it. doesn't help with your overhead console though or your HF set. I don't think it would be too hard to make one though.

Simon there is a spare rubber grommet behind the RH tail light you could use to take the cable thru, similar to the wiring for the trailer etc on the left hand side. remove the light and you will see what I mean.
