Will Remote Control on RRS feature on D5?

I know it's a Rangerover Sport but a guess it will be available on a Discovery as well??

The idea was originally conceived on the Discovery Vision concept, so could feature on the new Disco.

Dear Land Rover, I smashed my car into bits when someone rang my iPhone and the screen and your app locked up, I am assuming you are liable for all the damage Question

I can hear them laughing on the phone now. Actually that's not true, no one will answer the phone.

They could take Volvos stance and accept liability should their autonomous technologies fail. Rolling with laughter

I can see the remote drive being good for posing those off road shots when you don't have anyone to take the photo. Just carefully position the car "just so" whilst you wait with the camera. Laughing

When he backs it out of the tight spot, presumably the app has started the engine, engaged reverse and released the park brake - all without the key. The RRS is stolen from drives without the key now so I can see a hacked app being used to drive it remotely. LR make it even easier to steal! Shocked

I like the engineer in the passenger seat with his fingers on the park brake switch "just in case". Lots of confidence in the system then lads? Whistle

The "three point turn" app is, I guess, useful. It's scary how many people seem incapable of manoeuvring their 4x4 in tight spaces. They'll still be liable when a Land Rover "feature" smacks them in to a parked car though.

maybe i am getting old at 33 but WTF is going on with modern cars/drivers?

does no-one want to actually control their vehicle any more? I mean I have only just come round to liking automatics, albeit in certain cars, but seriously there is now no need to be able to:
1) park a car
2) reverse park
3) Parallel park
4) Hill start
5) worry about braking (active cruise control and brake over-ride functions)
6) reverse a trailer (VW and possible JLR do options for this)
8) Turning in the road
9) checking when you overtake (blind spot assist or lane change assist i think its called)

might as well get a Jonny-Cab from total recall.

As for the security implications as mentioned by others...sorry for the rant but I just feel all these 'assistants' make people even more ignorant to the fact the are driving around in 1500kg+ vehicles and the consequences of system failure (which they will) results in the 'driver' having no actual clue about what to do.

Even some of friends which are apparently car people have no real understanding of what happens when you press the pedals in terms of the systems built in to the car. To me really scary stuff considering the way people drive 2 inches from each others bumper at 70mph+

anyway good idea JLR. if it was for the security issues the parking one could be a good idea just based on the size of modern parking spaces and the thickness of car doors these days!!

peace out
