Swapping mud flaps
Hi All
I have acquired a 2014 D4 to replace my 2009 model
New one doesn't have mud flaps and I'm thinking of swapping these out from the 09
Does anyone have experience of doing this? Do they come off and refit cleanly?
(They are genuine LR if that makes a difference)
I don't want to do it if the bolts/screws will shear or if it'll leave marks on the old car
Thanks

I changed mud flaps on my D3 and wasn't particularly difficult, just a few bolts that
mate with plastic inserts so shouldn't be any issues with bolts snapping off.

Old one are off. Just one tricky screw.
Should be easier getting them back on (as all the screws are newer)
Just going to Hammerite the metal stiffeners....14 Disco 4 HSE

How did you blank off and tidy up where the flaps used to be?
Good idea to Hammerite the metal stiffeners as early as possible. The ones on my 2009 D3 had crumbled away in 6 years! Mind you, the flaps attach perfectly well without them!Went for a job as a human cannonball. Not the right calibre.

The kit uses existing screws (except a couple on rear flaps) - so just take off the mud flaps and put the screws back in. Use newer existing screws on the new car
It's like they'd never been there (at least will be when pressure hosed the mud that's accumulated over 5 years off)14 Disco 4 HSE

All done. Really pretty simple....
You can see from the photos why I need them....the spray was from one journey down the lane
