What exactly are 'adaptive headlights?' and do they work?

Is it just the auto cornering function? If so I had some on a Merc GL a year or so ago and they worked well but have heard others say on here they dont really notice them. 90% of my winter driving is on unlit country roads and ones that work are worth the money.

Has anyone specced them on an SE tech and regretted it?

I used them on an HSE Lux that me dealer lent to me for 5 days and they were so good I added them to my order straight away. Not only do the lamps steer, but extra, side facing lamps light up, which are great at unlit country lane junctions.

Another vote for them. Liked them enough to order them on the new one.

Not only do you get the additional cornering light that comes on and off, the main headlamp lens unit moves left to right as you steer, so the headlamp dipped beam moves left/right as you steer left/right, kinda like your eyes do as you round a corner.
LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

And the side facing lamp light up as soon as you put the indicator on. Brilliant!

I had them on my D3 and on my current D4. If you drive at night on unlit roads they're very good. A good value option, IMO.

You've all missed the best bit........... the way they start up, like something from Star Trek Razz

Seriously though I found them really useful.

It's not that they point around corners...

It's the accurate beam when dipped....
This dipped beam is also excellent light on either LHD or RHD settings

The Xenon globes are good for say 60k miles or 4 or 5 years.....they go grey & don't light the middle distances[/b]
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Adaptive headlights with 5k bulbs fitted.

Superb combo for night time driving, decent range for lighting up, the lights turning with the wheel is very handy.

Get them, you won't be disappointed with them.
 In loving memory of FA54WSK.

Rest well old friend, your work is done.

Thanks all - am I right to say they are standard on the HSE ... or is it a lower cost option?
