Fixing the LR Luggage Compartment Protector in place |
|
Hi,
I bought the genuine Land Rover Luggage Compartment Protector (part EBF500040). Very well made of thick wipe-clean fabric, and covers the entire boot space including area when 2nd row of seats are folded flat, the tail gate when flat, and the boot sides. So the whole boot is protected.
To hold the sides of the protector against the boot sides below the back most windows, it has suckers connected to the fabric by tapes. The suckers are supposed to be stuck to the back most windows. Not a great idea, because you are not supposed to touch the radio aerial wires in the glass at all, and also I cannot get them to stay stuck to the glass where there are no wires anyway.
Anybody got a solution for this?
I thought I might attach the tapes to the grills just below the glass with small bulldog / foldback clips. But I don't want to hinder whatever these grills are doing. Does anybody know what their purpose is?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Rob

I had the same problem, could not get the suckers to stay stuck on the glass. eventually I found a set of smaller window suckers (cost a £1 for a bag of 5 from one of the local market stalls) that actually do stick on the glass and hold the sides of the boot cover up properly. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Hi Rob,
I may be way off with this (and as my D3 will not be delivered until this afternoon I can't physically look now), I'm more than happy to be corrected by one of the more experienced guys in the forum...
I seem to remember reading a thread a few weeks ago that mentioned that the air filter/intake for the suspension compressor is located in this area on one side of the D3. I'm guessing that this could be the reason for the vents on one side - the vents on the opposite side will probably just be cosmetic to match the look on both sides.
Again, I stand to be corrected (and learn) so please feel free to comment if this is correct or not...
Cheers,
Paul
