LR Dealers, approved used cars

Are the dealers willing to negotiate on sticker prices or are they quite strict?

They hold prices very well and the dealers know it ...you will get a token discount perhaps but don't raise your expectations too high. Smile

I didn't have much joy with mine (couldn't even manage 12 months road tax Embarassed), but then I'm not the best at haggling, but nothing ventured nothing gained so give it a try.

Yes, they all negotiate. In the past month Ive been negotiating with about 8 dealers around the south. ALL were willing to drop the price by £500, one by as much as £1800!

I've found similar to above - spoke to 4 dealers, all willing to talk.

My deal a few weeks ago was £3k off screen price of an ex-LR 14 plate HSE.

Perhaps obviously, they seem to be better at discounting cars they have in stock.

That all said, a friend - who I consider to be a bit of a pro - recently only managed a few '00s on a used Disco Sport. With the old engine, I'd have expected better - they must be in demand.

I find they are not that flexible on sticker price, but you can get something. I managed a years tax, a tank of fuel, and around 30-40% off the accessories I asked them to supply and fit. They also delivered the car to me once ready (around 70 miles away). All in all, I think it was around £1000 in combination of all these factors.

Ive had various experiences over the years. Some cars I've got quite a discount on but others wouldn't budge however I got free services, accessories etc. Ive just traded a D4 in and watched the dealer sell it within 3 days of it being advertised, the sticker price was only a couple of grand more than what they gave me for it and it needed new tyres, pads, discs, service, MOT, Tax and a fair bit of sorting inside (damage). My new car deal had a discount and bits thrown in too so overall they couldn't have had much in it at all.

I guess its how the particular car sits on their books or I could be completely wrong ! Laughing

Its worth remembering that cars that the dealers WILL sell quickly are the good ones and they are unlikely to be very flexible with these.

Those that are perceived by dealer to be a tad difficult to budge will attract a bigger discount with minimal pushing.

As with many things - you get what you pay for in most cases.

Thumbs Up
