Raised air intake
I picked up a brand new genuine D3/4 Raised air intake in the box last week for a bargain. I just need to persuade swmbo we actually need it fitting now rather than living in the garage.

Im just taking one off my D4. Don't forget that it doesn't come ready to be used anywhere near water. Ok for dust but its not water tight at all unfortunately! You'll need to get a new bit of pipe!

3 weeks after I changed the plate on mine to the current personalised one I finally began to relax. I'd managed to buy it, get it delivered and put on the Disco without SWMBO noticing, as well as driving with her in the car very many times.
I'd thought I'd got away with it.........then one day, I was getting the trailer out the garage ready for a 'Log Run' and she happened to be coming back from a walk, when she said "What's that doing there?" I froze, turned red and attempted an answer "Um, what love, oh you mean that, been there ages..."
I can honestly say it's the worse trouble I've ever been in, I was ordered to change it back ASAP, and took at least a month before getting back into her good books!
Still kept the plate though
So the moral of the story?
Change it, don't tell her and hope for the best Iggy/Ieuan

I did the same. Fitted it on a Friday. Wife noticed the Saturday morning.
The "what's that?" question. I said ahh we have had it for weeks (3 to be precise, but all in the box in the shed) I asked if she liked it, she said "No, the disco is now lop sided!" I replied with, "I can fit one to the passenger side as well if you want..." got a grumpy look and that as the last that was said about it. D3 HSE TDV6 Auto. Bonatti Grey.

Funnily enough it's my wife that wants a RAI, I think they look dreadful.
It's her car though, so I bought her one for her birthday. Just got to get around to fitting it now.
Spot lights and light guards are also on her wish list .Simon.

I thought I was the only one on here who thought that
Personally I can't understand why folks want a big lump of black plastic hanging off the wing and up the side of the windscreen unless its needed for overland expeditions. I think they look terrible on a D3/D4 A Defender, agreed they look pretty good, but in my opinion they spoil the looks of a Disco

It needs a plastic pipe and elbow through the wing. I chose not to fit the extra parts, the snorkel will stop splashes going into the intake, if you keep your bow wave going you'll not reach the intake height, any deeper than that you'll be submerging electrics anyway and if it's totally sealed and you get a leak or water down it, then there's nowhere for it to escape. The gasket around the intake isn't a very good seal. The pressure sucking air through won't pull a small amount of water coming up from the drain hole if you were to leave it.
The only way to get a true seal is to modify the innards of a safari snorkel and stick it to the intake area of the OEM as you fit it. IMO not worth it as you can't go much deeper anyway as I explained.
