5th birthday service
Bought my car two years ago from a dealer. Was really lucky finding a 15000 mile 3 year old car from a dealer at a good price.
My mate had a range rover sport that was costing him a fortune at every service - 2k plus each time.
Come it's first service and I was dreading it. The bill on top of the service was...nothing!
This year I didn't even get a quote for the service. Its 5 years old, I've touched the bottom on an off road course a few times, it's now got 34000. This is going to cost me!
Dropped the car off and awaited the call. Next day got the dreaded call. Went to pick up the car and nothing again. Simply the service cost.
Its a 59 plate HSE with 34k on it. I keep thinking about changing it for a 8 speed model but I just cant justify it. I've got a problem free model, why risk getting one with hesitation for another 10 grand out of my pocket.
Loving my Discovery. I simply thought it was about time we had a positive thread here after reading all the threads stating they wouldn't have a land rover after it was three years old. Oh but by the way I have extended the warranty

We just sold our D3 Metropolis (sold via Pistonheads but was advertised on here too.
Battery, alternator and AC pipes needed replacing in the 4yrs we had it, but was otherwise faultless. Didnt bother with a warranty.
Thought long and hard before upgrading : still have our fingers tightly crossed for the new one....2012 D4 HSE for her
2014 Evora S SportsRacer for him

Trying to figure out now whether to take advantage of the current offers and order a new 15 Hse. Do I stick to what I've got with 40000miles and the six speed box or go for a new one with the possibility of faults but a nice new warranty and a few more toys. Surround cameras, 20" wheels, paddles etc.
I have thought the same - 5th birthday is next month and prior to last weeks fuel gauge problem, all i have had to do is change the brake pads. Has 37k miles and I'm struggling to see how the 8 speed box and paddles are worth £10k to £20K
How much was your service ?D4 2010 HSE Santorini Black
D3 2005 SE Java Black - p/x to D4
D2 2001 GS - p/x to D3
D1 1998 - p/x to D2

I am also in the same situation mine has done 107,000 and 5 years old next month but its going well. Would cost me another £20k to update to a newer 8 speeder can't really justify it while mine is reliable.

It's been a while since the service, it was just the basic cost and I had no extras.
My current car is paid off and so I pay nothing, not sure I want to go to 399 a month for a very similar car
I also worry about the well publicised issues with hesitancy off the line. My six speed is fine and I. Don't want to buy a car with a fancy eight speed box which lurches off a roundabout. I don't live exactly near a dealership so popping in for a reprogram isn't easy

today a mate drive past in a lovely 15 plate se tech. Quick call and two hours later went out for a spin. First I thought this is well worth changing but by the end of our 20 min drive I came to the conclusion that it's simply not worth 400 a. Month to do the change. The engine in mine is just as smooth and quiet, the gearbox is great in the 8 speed but I did find it annoying how it changed gear so often. In town it's constantly changing whereas mine will stay in theirs around town and rely on the torque much more. I reckon I'll just wait for something to go wrong with mine before I change it.

Well 13000 miles later ( and a couple of months late) the car gad it's 6th service. Again no extra cost other than the rather expensive service cost.
Perhaps I've just been lucky but considering the reputation of these cars this car has been amazing. Not sure it's worth the risk changing it yet.
