Just given the D3 a coat of Maguiers polish and what a finish. I think (and dare I say it) better than my usual Autoglym or MER. D4 HSE....Probably, but not quite decided yet.

I used their 3 step finish excellent definately better than autoglym in my opinion. That said always been happy with autoglym products.

I wrote elsewhere this polish (especially the step one Swirl Remover is really good
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic13008.html?highlight= The best part about it is that it doesn't remove the top lacquer like T-Cut
They also do ScratchX for deeper damage - this also doesn't remove paint - just reduces the visibility of the scatch
Tried some of the other products - O.....but stay away from their wheel cleaner it has quite strong acids in there that attack wheel alloy BREXIT - done properly.

Love Maguiers I've looked for Autoglym ya'll seem to like but they don't seem to carry around here. The Maguiers Gold wash is wonderful too, nice & gentle conditioning between wax jobs. Just buff it out after & all shiny again. I'm not so good at giving advice...may I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?

The Maguiers Scratch X worked very well on my very bramble scratched buckingham black. Brought it back like new after working in a pine forest for a week! Hoping if I keep using it I'll end up with Zambezi Silver which is what I should have got in the first place! 2005 D3 HSE

Polish = Abrasive in some form. Wax is not
AutoGlym & 3m are the only options (for me)

Yeah Ken, but you are a paint specialist............
Read the Zymol pages - very interesting stuff, the range covers the various uses for the various polishes and waxes.....
But, I do use Autoglym for pretty much everything else (excepting car wash/cleaner, which is Zymol to complement the Polish.

Ken
I recall that when Autoglym was introduced (initially as a dealer only thing) it was specced as a resin polish - it has some abrasive property - Ive trie it on metals (Brass, Silver, pewter etc it removes oxides from all three).
The treads on Paul Dalton are incredible "vintage" polish, kept in the fridge.....extremes in my book for cars that rarely get used - not really for bramble scratched 4X4's. I reckon that most want good results at a premium price with minimal effort (possibly someone else's).
The Meguiars three step I applied last September is still "beading" on my Disco 3 (& its been to Somalia....) BREXIT - done properly.

Ken,
To expand further and open up a debate on how often etc nand get some expert advice, My understanding was that polish is for periodic use when you want to remove surface imperfections and in effect make a smooth surface so light reflects. To make a smooth surface you either remove the surface or fill the imperfections (is this correct?).
Wax / resins etc are for protection so can be done frequently.
So how often should we polish?
Regards
Chris

Set up in the U.K by the chap that was entrusted to market the Zonda. Works very well indeed.

Chris Bang On , however in answer to when to Polish well thats quite hard really its down to to the owner, understand the limits of the polish and what you want to achieve use a good one I always say AutoGlym but thats what I know, there are others out there.
Not gonna give tricks away as use them incorrectly and you will/could be in a world of pain

I'm not trying to teach anybody anything (God/Allah/Jehovah Forbid - me challenge an expert - no way) - only observations on actually using it (Meguiars) in a practical way.
I'm certainly not going to spend £1000's on vintage polish nor neglect my Disco - but do something practicall.
In this context my Disco, prepared, polished & Carnuaba waxed (Meguairs 3 step system) still doesn't need "re-doing" almost 11 months later (despite being washed about every two weeks) & well used.
I haven't a clue who's expertise I had challenged or questioned, I merely agreed with what another user said & this was based on his observations & practical experience + added some of my own data based on looking after my own various vehicles - if you follow the threads on here most of what is written is just that - hence a forum where experiences & observations can be shared by like minded people... BREXIT - done properly.
