Disconnecting battery whilst on holiday

Hi - we go away for 4 weeks shortly and I remember that last time we were away we came back to a dead battery. at the time Land Rover said we should have done a couple of things which I have now clean forgotten - perhaps disconnecting the battery? I can't see anything in the manual that gives any detail?

If anyone can assist that would be great - if the battery is disconnected, i assume it would need charging?

Any help gratefully received as have no way of contacting LR before we go!

Cheers
Darren

I shipped my 2005 MY D3 to USA and was on the boat for 3 wks and then had multiple starts afterwards ( Off the ship & around the docks) for best part of a week with no issues. If you disconnect the battery it will last 4 wks without charge assuming its a good one.

I would consider a trickle charger on it for the duration or a family member or friend to give it a decent run in the interim.

Left mine for months on end with everything as normal and everything was just fine.

If the vehicle has no faults then it will have no problems left as it is. If it does have a current drain then it should be fixed.

Thumbs Up

Like Robbie says if it's all in good condition it should be fine.

As D3's are power hungry and take a very long run to really fully charge I'd put it on a Ctek charger etc to make sure it's topped right up Thumbs Up

+1 from me. Regularly left for 3 or 4 weeks. No problems whatsoever.
