Removal of rear bumper tread plate |
|
Removal of the rear bumper tread plate would seem to be nice and easy:
It's just that the arrow head tabs on mine just don't want to come out
Has anyone else here had the same problem and might be able to offer any ideas please? 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4

I can't remember that I had a problem, but are you pulling the plastic back bit towards you to disengage the arrow heads with your finger tips? Shuffle it about a bit? You can't do it a lot of harm TBH.

Thanks for the reply. I did try pulling it back and up at the same time, but it wouldn't shift.
I'm going to give it another try this morning and see if a fresh start helps.... 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Douse in some lubricant like WD40? Might just be the encouragement it needs?

If you still have the original plastic one just be more brutal.... If you have the stainless steel cover these are screwed on and therefore you need to remove some of the rubbers to locate the screws holding it down....

I'm swapping from plastic to stainless and it's getting rid of the plastic one that's giving me grief! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

You can be super brutal then! Screwdriver under it and then pull really hard...very flexible plastic!

Not if of your wanting to replace it with the original when you chop it in!
You haven't got to the bit when you have to remove a plastic tab or two to get the replacement flat then? :lol

Oddly enough, that's what I've just done
I reckon it being soaking wet could have made all the difference as it finally came away with a BF&I setting of only around 7 to 8 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Great minds and all that.
Found the tabs that make it difficult to lay flat? I just cut them off, makes no difference to the rigidity TBH.

Yep, seen the tabs
Can't carry on just yet as I've promised to be at a BBQ for 1.30.
And it's raining
And, I've got to go by motorcycle!

Why? It's no shame to be driving a Disco without the plastic bit. Adds character....
