France 2016 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 HSE Auto Loire BlueDiscovery 4
It's finally coming...

Wow...just had a couple of turbulent weeks.

French Disco HSE ordered in Loire Blue / Almond on 15th June with tinted windows, fixed towbar, reversing camera and conversion into a Commercial (in France you have to buy the vehicle and then have it converted).

Vehicle was delivered on 8th October and have been waiting ever since.

Last week I sent a recorded delivery letter stating that if the vehicle wasn't ready for the 6/11, I would cancel the order.

Promises were made by the dealers, and very few of them were kept.

Finally today, just before going to test another vehicle, I have had confirmation the car is finally ready...

The last thing that really grates is that I was told I could have an extended warranty to 200000kms (which I'll do in 4 years) but today I have been told that the 2050 Euro warranty only runs to 120000kms (75000 miles) and they have no other solutions. Are Land Rover France really that frightened of their products???

A purchase that I was really looking forward to in June has been so filled with hassle and lies and ineptitude that I really am wondering if I have done the right thing...?

Will update after collecting it at 16.45 tomorrow!

Sent an email to them with copy of original message about the warranty. Asked them to provide what they have contractually offered me (for 1160 Euros), and told them I'd have bought a different vehicle if I'd known I was being sold lies.

I haven't even got the car home and I'm already thinking about changing it at 2 years / 100000km (5 year finance deal)!!!

Also highlighted the price of the cambelt change at 1200 Euros in the same message! I am sure it will be at least double if I keep the car long enough.

Seeing how bad this dealers service has been I am not surprised that Jaguar Land Rover only manage to do 120 vehicle registrations a month in France.

It's finally arrived!!!

After a couple of problems with the lack of communication from the dealers it was finally collected yesterday at 17.30 after having been stuck on the Bordeaux ring road for an hour!

Very pleased apart from a couple of marks that I picked up on, a scratch to the instrument cluster and a smooth (not grained leather) patch on the drivers seat. I have asked the dealers to attend to these at the first service...

Power is amazing, comfort, quietness (after coming from pickup trucks & recently a Fiat Doblo van), xenons, lit up door handles at night...brilliant.

I also got a semi-result on the warranty. If I apply for a Land Rover used one before 50000kms (at the end of year 1 in my case) it can be extended for three years for 1560 Euros, but wear & tear reduces the payouts by 60% after 160000kms (100000 miles).

Think I've got a boot mat organised now, and just need to sort some mud flaps (amazing how much mud up the doors and rear already).

Couple of questions for those that are in the know please:
- Aren't Discoverys meant to have a fin on the roof for the GPS? Mine just has a big fin-shaped rubber grommet but the GPS works anyhow...
- Aren't Discoverys meant to have 'puddle lights' in the wing mirrors; or was this changed on MY 15? Mine has nothing until you open the door, but still no LR logo...
- Where is the mis-fuel reset device typically found on the 5 seat please? I have a couple of spaces left empty in the Styrofoam under the boot floor and nothing in either side cubby...
- Does the stop / start only work in certain conditions. This afternoon it didn't seem to want to cut in until the engine was up to temperature. Is this to save loading the battery?

Here are a couple of pics, seems like there are a lot more Loire Blue out there recently!
