Fault code difference - I’m puzzled ?

Couple of weeks ago, I had a new battery fitted by the RAC who then read the fault code store as the EML was on (to be fair it’s been on for a while now).... The code RAC recorded was U1A44 Fuel Level inter and B1D29 FBH which both would not clear..

In the meantime I purchased a Foxwell pro OBDII diagnostic tool and repeated the exercise today to try and clear them...
However I recorded P045D-00/In and P0490-00/In (relating to the near side EGR valve I believe) and no sign of the previous U1A44 & B1D29....
The latest codes were easily cleared and EML initially went off but after a quite spin has come back on.. a repeat download showed P045D/$1 8D.. but again i cleared it and EML off..

Anyone understand the logic here and why RAC reader displayed completely different codes than the Foxwell? What do I tackle first EGR?

It’s like owning an Alfa Romeo all over again lol...

It might be worth a shout to ask somebody local to you to read your codes for you with a LR specific tool.

The original faults might not have cleared immediately until a couple of ign cycles. Weather has not been cold enough to activate the FBH so you will not see any faults there until temps drop below about 4 or 5 deg C. Even so, the FBH will not cause the EML to illuminate, so the issue you have is an EGR valve! Probably better to replace both if you are going that road, or have them blanked (and a software patch if after MY07)

Thanks Profsr..
I took ice and packed it around the temp sensor inside the front grill (dash showed -4) and with the rad water cold.. Fbh seemed to fire up but little smoke only for 20seconds or so.. I could hear it running..

Anyway yes I’ll kick off with the nr side egr before the cold short days get here! Seeing them on eBay for £60 or so so not too bad just an awkward job I’ve read.......

If you’ve force fired the fbh, you may have a low fuel level lock out fault?

I pulled the fused on that for 10 minutes or so thinking the same, and again nothing relating to that now in the code reader...

This forum holds a wealth of information!

You could do with somebody local with a LR tool able to clear fbh codes for you and read your new codes.
