Front Protector Plate
Hi Baben
Took the front plastic cover off the car in case I needed to recover any of the lesser vehicles today .
Anyway noticed what a piece of cr p it is. I had a look in your gallery at your nice ally one.
Who fitted it again and how much was it ?
Also does the car run any hotter

That is a plate made by Mantec. They do a winch version too with slots for the winch brackets in.
About £300 I think.
There have a been a few group buys on here, do a quick search

Hi Heine,
Could you keep me posted as to price and availability as I am interested in one as well - 'O5 V8 - it should be the same as that for the TDV6?

Tino fitted mine. You can buy them from LR midrand (they are "approved"! )I wanted the Mantec one, but Karl didn't have any stock and couldn't tell me when he would get new stuff. I was in a hurry preparing for Angola, so went with Tino's one. I haven't noticed any difference in performance, but let's see what happens in summer.
I was thinking about taking it off and having some holes cut inline with the intercooler, although LR and Tino told me it is unneccesary. The missus also wants it black , so I have to find a way. Don't know if anodizing will work - it will probly look crap once it gets a few scratches

Subject: Mantec Underbody protection
Dear Alwyn,
The images attached are indeed of the Mantec product. The factory manager at Mantec has advised expected lead time for production is approximately 3 - 4 weeks.
Mantec have confirmed that while the winch compatible plate we discussed this morning is a Land Rover part & only available through franchised dealers, the standard protection plate (Images attached) is a "Mantec" part & therefore available through Mantec or their agents. A fact I was blissfully unaware of until this morning.
For your information:
Land Rover part KRQ500010 Underbody protection Discovery 3 (Winch compatable)
Mantec part 33-SPG-319/NW Underbody protection Discovery 3 (Non winch)
Recommended retail price of the guard is GBP 229.90 (Excludes freight charges, import duties, customs VAT)"
I have ordered a non-winch plate. The Mantec winch plate is only via LRSA.
(On this forum there seems to be a group buy for USA that went stale).
I mailed Karl today to remind him. I am waiting and driving minus the plastic up front.
(Despite 10 days of heavy sand, bush and mud I suffered no damage to rest of the front spoiler)...
