Discovery Graphite

Folks,

I'm looking to buy a brand new Discovery Graphite. I'm looking, for obvious reasons, to get a steal of a price.

I wonder, is anyone else looking for a new one, before the model ceases production?

I'm looking to order either Feb or March and I'm happy to use any authorised dealer to get the best deal.

I'm sure two or three of us buying as a team could get a tasty discount.

Is anyone else in the market?

With the model about to end production (mid/late 2016) and demand still relatively high, I think you have no chance.

My friendly stealer is banking on Commercials going up in price (mainly in terms of second hand). He has several as fleet hire and he thinks when it's time to sell it will be not only easy, but for a healthy (compared to times gone by) price. No D5 Commercial equals end of an era (for me at least).

We shall see. Good luck in trying though.

I need to make my mind up, but would be looking at an Aug/Sept delivery if I go down the change route. If there was a deal to be done then it may just swing it!

You might be a bit late for August/September delivery unless the Dealer has an unsold stock vehicle.

I think you'll be surprised how quickly it might turn up. I placed an order for a Landmark with a number of extras on 8th Jan and the dealer is expecting it to arrive sometime in March 16

Not to be a dissenting voice, but I think the notion that dealers are sticking to their guns, confident the stock will go at full price, no deals to be done - I don't buy that for a moment.

I've had a nice long trawl of the Internet and I'd say I've looked at the web pages of all the major brokers and the majority of dealers.

What I'm seeing are prices with brokers advertised at £43k at best, which I'm hoping means there's slightly better to be had and I've had a dealer offer me a cash price of £43600. Look at the finance deals, they vary a lot from dealer to dealer but range from no deposit contribution and 7.9% to £6000 deposit contribution and 6.9%.

If Land Rover and their dealers were completely sure that shifting this lot in time was a matter of business as usual, I very much doubt this would be happening.

I also firmly believe that the best deal going is rarely advertised to I think there's some play in all of this. But the best cash price I've had, combined with the best finance deal makes the Graphite a cracking buy.

That said, I'm greedy, I'd like more off. So I'll restate, if anyone fancies a buying partner in March, I have a deposit and I'm a serious buyer, let's see how good a deal we can bag together....

Get a price from CarWow and then go to your dealer and ask him to match it.

Something else to consider is servicing, when I bought my current D4 I prepaid for three years servicing for £1k, the next closest wanted £1.5k (apart from being a lot more expensive to start with) and I believe you can get even better deals now. if you buy too far away and don't get these deals it may add to the overall cost by £1k or so.

I would also like to think the suppying dealer would help you out more if you have problems, which if you buy at the other end of the country you may lose some goodwill using your local dealer only for problems without getting the initial profit

The servicing is a good shout.... Many offer fixed price at £500 for three years, £700 for five. I think anyone planning on hanging on to the car for any period would be silly not to at those sorts of prices.

As to the goodwill, I think you have a point there. I'd like to buy from my local, Sturgess, but if it's a matter of being able to afford the deal or not.... I'm happy to do that.

I think picking a new car already built is likely to be the best way and as it happens, I don't really want anything with an out-landish spec. The base Graphite in a nice colour would make me happy.

There are definitely deals going.

Make sure you get the LR service package £699 for 5 years /50k miles, you can use this anywhere, if you buy the dealer own one you can only go there.
