Does anyone know how many miles in town the D4 will do before you need to take it for a run to clear the DPF filter? I appreciate this may depend on the temperature and speed you're travelling, so just an approximation.

I've had a D4 with a DPF for over three years, wife drives it mostly, I doubt if any of her trips are longer than five miles, a tank of fuel lasts about ten days, all short journeys, can go three months or so without seeing a Dual Carrigeway or fast A Road, never had any DPF problems or seen the DPF light, occasionally hear a throaty tone from the exhaust which I believe it is regenerating.

I do a lot of short journeys but I am now in France on holiday in the mountains, my Engine/Transmission amber warning light has come on, could this mean the DPF needs clearing?

I think, but do please check the manual, that the DPF waning light is a box with dots inside and a pipe out one end. If it is this, then it should need clearing.

Never had a problem with mine, it could take me 4 weeks to use a tank of fuel. I can't remember exactly but the DPF regenerates every 300 or so miles. You'll know when it happens, the Disco makes a gruff exhaust note, almost like its blown. 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

My car has now been to the Land Rover garage in Tarbes, from what I could understand they said the catalytic converter had a blockage, which they have cleared, amber light is not on now when engine is running. Is the DPF filter in the catalytic converter or is this something different they have cleared?
